DETROIT -- The Detroit Lions just wrapped up a season in which they finished 9-7 and in second place in the NFC North. It wasn't good enough for a return trip to the playoffs, so they fired coach Jim Caldwell.
General manager Bob Quinn said the prevailing reason for change was that the Lions have not beaten the good teams on their schedule. It begs the question of how difficult that schedule was in the first place.
