With the trashing of the Tennessee Titans, the Detroit Lions are 6-1 on the season. According to the team’s PR Twitter account, it’s the first time they’ve gotten off to that good of a start since the 1956 season. That year, the Lions started 7-1, finished 9-3, and just missed out on a championship.
Just last week, the 2023 and 2024 Lions became the first ever teams in Detroit franchise history to post back-to-back 5-1 starts. The last time the Lions did that was when it was the Portsmouth Lions in 1933 and 1934.
