ALLEN PARK -- The 2015 draft class was supposed to be the one that revived the Detroit Lions' running game. And three years later, the running game is showing signs of being revived.
Except now, only one member of that draft class is left -- and it's Quandre Diggs.
Ameer Abdullah, a second-round pick in that fateful class, was released by the Lions on Tuesday. That paves the way for the return of Zach Zenner, as well as the signing of receiver Bruce Ellington.
And with that, Martin Mayhew's final effort to save Detroit's running game has been officially dismantled.
