ALLEN PARK -- There seems to be a pretty good chance Teryl Austin won't be back in Detroit next year, as its head coach or otherwise.
Austin is expected to interview for the Bengals defensive coordinator job on Friday, according to ESPN. He's still under contract with Detroit in the same capacity, although interviewed for the head coaching vacancy on Tuesday.
But Austin was always a long shot to land that job. He has no head coaching experience, his defense has achieved middling results over the last couple years, and he was part of the Jim Caldwell staff that struggled to compete against winning teams.
