For the last four seasons, linebacker Tahir Whitehead has been kind of a jack-of-all-trades for the Detroit Lions.
The former fifth-round pick was a very good special teams player his first two seasons in the league.
In 2014, he became the starting SAM linebacker in Teryl Austin’s defense early in the season, but was moved over to the MIKE when Stephen Tulloch was lost for the season due to a knee injury Week 3. Whitehead had 86 tackles and two interceptions that season.
He lost his job to Travis Lewis early on last season, but won it back in time to make eight starts and finish with 50 tackles and two sacks.
