The Detroit Lions were not very opportunistic in 2020 when it came to creating turnovers. They finished t-27th in the league with a turnover differential of minus-nine (12 takeaways and 21 giveaways). Of those 12 takeaways, only seven of those were interceptions, good for second-to-last in the NFL.
The secondary was atrocious during the Quinntricia era, plain and simple. With the new coaching staff coming to town and players seemingly excited about the new scheme, there is a lot to be excited about and hopefully it will translate into better results.
The Lions didn’t exactly do that much of an overhaul with the secondary itself, but if they can get better play from their revamped defensive line and have better individual performances from their defensive backs this year, then maybe the defense will end up with a positive turnover ratio in 2021.
