DETROIT -- Jarrad Davis displaced Tahir Whitehead at middle linebacker almost from the moment he shook Roger Goodell's hand on draft day.
He was at middle linebacker on the first day of rookie camp. He was there when veterans began reporting for OTAs. And he was still there when Whitehead eventually returned from injury.
It was always the plan for Detroit's first-round pick to start at middle linebacker this season, so it wasn't exactly big news when he started in Detroit's 35-23 win Sunday against Arizona on the season opener. But what he's doing is rare stuff at that position.
