When Bob Quinn took over as Detroit Lions general manager in January of 2016, he inherited a team that counted Reilly Reiff and Michael Ola as its starting offensive tackles.
The position was a problem, to say the least, and there weren’t many good solutions in free agency. The Lions brought Russell Okung in for a visit, but Okung wasn’t keen on coming to Detroit and when he signed elsewhere Quinn decided to punt on the position until the draft, where a strong crop of prospects matched up with the Lions’ lingering need at the position.
