A couple days after Golden Tate was named to the Pro Bowl last season, he received an envelope in the mail with the Detroit Lions logo on it.
“I’m thinking, ‘Oh man, am I getting fined for something?’ Tate recalled after Tuesday’s minicamp practice.
Tate wasn’t being fined. Inside the envelope was a letter from Lions owner and chairman Martha Firestone Ford.
“It was just a very, very nice and considerate note she wrote saying ‘thank you’ and ‘congratulations on all your success' and 'we’re so happy to have you here.
