ALLEN PARK -- Cornerback DeShawn Shead wasn't good enough to make the Lions coming out of camp. But he just might have to be good enough to face Tom Brady.
With Darius Slay working his way through concussion protocol, the Lions announced Wednesday they've re-signed Shead. They originally signed the veteran cornerback in free agency, and rolled into training camp with him as the starter opposite Slay. But Shead struggled in the role, then suffered a leg injury that held him out of a couple exhibitions.
The Lions wound up deciding to eat the $1.6 million in guaranteed money in Shead's deal, and cut him loose at the roster deadline.
