Seidel: Steady Teryl Austin 'would be huge loss' for Lions

As the Detroit Lions cleaned out their lockers and packed their bags, the subject turned to defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.

And it started to feel like a funeral, where you dip into memories and say nice things about somebody who is gone. Even though, in this case, he's not.

"A lot of places I've been, I've had D-coordinators who were playing checkers when everybody else was playing chess," said Lions cornerback Josh Wilson, who just finished his ninth season in the NFL. "This guy understands the chess game and how it works, and he knows how to talk to people.
