Sam Martin is already the Detroit Lions franchise leader in career punting average and net punting average. He’s 26 years old and entering just his fourth season in the NFL.
Martin, a fifth-round pick out of Appalachian State in 2013, has been one of the best punters in the NFL since he entered the league three years ago.
When people sit down and talk about the impact players and the weapons on this Lions roster, the names Ziggy Ansah, DeAndre Levy, Matthew Stafford, Golden Tate and Theo Riddick come up rather quickly.
Lions head coach Jim Caldwell believes Martin belongs in the conversation as well.
