After facing Scott Tolzien and Christian Hackenberg in their first two exhibition games, the Detroit Lions held up tonight's third preseason game against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots as a more realistic measure of where they stand heading into their Sept. 10 season opener against the Arizona Cardinals.
By all accounts, they still have a long way to go.
Brady abused the Lions’ starting defense for 24 first-quarter points, completing 11 of his first 12 passes, and the Patriots rallied for a 30-28 victory on Stephen Gostkowski’s 45-yard field goal with 2 seconds to play.
