LONDON -- Martha Firestone Ford has stayed mostly out of the public eye since she took over as Detroit Lions owner almost 20 months ago, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Saturday the 90-year-old has done a "terrific job" running the team.
"She's terrific," Goodell told the Free Press after taking part in a fan forum at London's Institute of Education. "I just had dinner with her the other night at one of the events and she stands up and speaks at the meetings. She's well informed. We talk on the phone from time to time about different issues.
