Rodgers, Packers shred helpless Lions, 34-27

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Things were never going to be easy.

Not in the Green Bay Packers’ home opener at Lambeau Field, and not facing two-time MVP Aaron Rodgers — no matter how much criticism he’s received.

But for a Lions team that left its two best defensive players at home with injuries, Sunday’s NFC North showdown with the Packers was closer to a curb-stomping than the offensive shootout the 34-27 final score would indicate.

Rodgers, under fire for his statistical decline over the last year, threw four touchdown passes in the first half and Green Bay scored 31 of the game’s first 34 points to cruise to victory.
