SAN FRANCISCO -- No matter what Calvin Johnson decides to do this off-season, and all signs continue to point to him retiring, Detroit Lions president Rod Wood is confident that his team will be a contender this fall.
“I’m not going to make any predictions, but I’m pretty optimistic,” Wood said in an interview with beat writers at Super Bowl 50 last week. “We have some things we have to fill on the player side and, luckily, we have a lot of draft picks. We’re going to have some cap space, and Bob (Quinn) kind of knows where he wants to fill some of those holes and has already started identifying opportunities to do that.
