ALLEN PARK -- Ricky Jean Francois has been around the NFL block, on winning teams and losing ones and clubs stuck in that tormenting middle ground. As he sat at his locker last Friday night, the 10th-year pro found himself fuming over something as rudimentary as a preseason football game.
He said things better change fast. He wasn't here to have "no long season." He's not here just to play either. The 31-year-old arrived in Detroit days before training camp because he wants to work for Matt Patricia for a second straight year.
He also wants to do more than that for a first-year head coach and his hybrid defensive scheme.
