MIAMI — Richard Sherman could have been a San Francisco 49er a time long ago, and to hear him tell it, he would have been if not for Jim Harbaugh.
Sherman and Harbaugh have a long-standing rift that dates back to both of their days at Stanford, where Sherman started as a wide receiver and Harbaugh was the head coach.
When Sherman signed with the 49ers as a free agent in 2018, he said owner Jed York told him the 49ers thought highly of him coming out of the draft, but that Harbaugh, now the head coach at Michigan, nixed a reunion.
