It was no surprise that Matthew Stafford was not present for the Detroit Lions’ first week of offseason workouts. His wife, Kelly, was about to undergo brain surgery last Wednesday, and obviously the health of his family comes first.
In fact, no one would’ve blamed Matthew if he decided to take all of the Lions’ voluntary workouts off, considering the rehabilitation likely required to get Kelly back on her feet following the 12-hour surgery.
However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Stafford showed up at the Lions’ training facility first thing Monday morning this week:
With Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly, undergoing 12 hours of brain surgery and returning home only last weekend, the Lions told their QB to take as much time off as needed this off-season.
