Joe Lombardi spent seven successful seasons with the New Orleans Saints, and now he's headed back there to try and rebuild his image.
Lombardi, who was fired as Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Oct. 26, will rejoin the Saints as the team's quarterbacks coach, ESPN and NFL Network reported.
Lombardi was one of Jim Caldwell's first hires as Lions coach in 2014.
He came as a highly-touted quarterback tutor, having worked closely with Drew Brees during his first stint with the Saints, but never enjoyed much success in Detroit.
The Lions ranked 19th in total offense last year, and averaged just over 20 points in Lombardi's 23 regular-season games as coordinator.
