ALLEN PARK -- Sam Martin has played like one of the league's best punters the past couple years.
Now he's getting paid like it.
The Detroit Lions have inked Martin to a four-year extension that is worth $13.6 million plus incentives, according to ESPN. That's $3.4 million annually, which matches Carolina's Andy Lee for the third most amount punters.
Martin net 42.0 yards per punt last season, which ranked fourth in the league, and averaged 45.2 overall. Better yet, Martin told MLive after practice Thursday he believes he's on the cusp of his best season yet.
