Maybe this is what the Detroit Lions need, a Prophett to help pick their players.
The Lions have hired former New Orleans Saints and New York Jets scout Brendan Prophett to run their pro personnel department in a move that was first reported by the football industry website insidetheleague.com.
Prophett, a Massachusetts native like Lions general manager Bob Quinn, was the Jets' pro personnel director in 2007-15. He joined the Saints as an area scout last year, after a shakeup in the Jets' front office.
Along with the Jets and Saints, Prophett worked as an intern for the New York Giants in 1999 and with the NFL management council in 2000.
