Report: Lions hire David Walker as running backs coach

A day after Curtis Modkins left to become Chip Kelly's offensive coordinator, the Detroit Lions have found his replacement.

According to Fox Sports, the Lions are expected to hire David Walker as running backs coach.

Walker coached running backs for the Indianapolis Colts from 2011-14, but was out of the NFL last year. In 2011, he worked on Jim Caldwell's staff when the Colts went 2-14 and finished with the NFL's 26th-ranked rushing offense at 99.6 yards per game.

This year, the Lions finished last in the NFL in rushing, but were more effective when Modkins was promoted to running game coordinator after offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi was fired midseason.
