The Detroit Lions will work out veteran quarterbacks Josh Johnson and Landry Jones on Saturday, NFL Network reported, after backup Tom Savage left Thursday's preseason game against the New England Patriots with an apparent concussion.

Savage was injured in the first quarter of Thursday's game when he was whipped headfirst into the Ford Field turf on a sack by Patriots linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley.

Savage struggled to get to his feet after the hit and was taken immediately to the locker room, leaving third-string quarterback David Fales to finish the game.
