When the Detroit Lions announced their 16-player practice squad, a surprise exclusion was veteran guard Oday Aboushi. As it turns out, it was for a reason: they are re-signing him to the active roster.
Aboushi was competing with Kenny Wiggins and Beau Benzschawel for a backup guard spot throughout training camp. However, the Lions originally opted to carry none of them, with Matt Nelson being the surprise keeper along the offensive line. Now it appears as though the Lions are indeed interested in him as a backup by re-signing him to the active 53-man roster.
