According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Detroit Lions defensive end Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah will play under the "franchise tag" this coming season.
Schefter tweeted on Sunday night that the sides "will not reach a deal by Monday's 4 p.m. ET deadline to sign franchise players, per league sources."
If true, it would mean Ansah would receive $17.1 million, fully guaranteed, for next season and then become a free agent.
Ansah totaled 12 sacks last season, missing two games because of injury. He was hobbled in several other games and his production was inconsistent.
