What happened: Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin called the 49ers offensive line “tough” and “gritty,” and warned anyone who would listen this week that they could impose their will if the Lions let them.
For 30 minutes, the 49ers did just that. San Francisco racked up 265 yards of offense in the first half, 122 of those coming on the ground.
But in a tale of two halves for the Lions defense, they finally woke up in the second half and helped Detroit's offense secure a 32-17 win.
The Lions came into the game having allowed fewer than 70 rushing yards per game in five of their last six contests.
