Bob Quinn’s first major signing as the Detroit Lions general manager is a familiar one.
He’s familiar to the Lions and familiar to Quinn. New England, where Quinn was hired from, pursued Tyrunn Walker last season when he signed a one-year deal with Detroit. It looked like a good move for Walker, too, until he broke his left leg and dislocated his ankle on Monday Night Football against Seattle in October.
Walker had won a starting role in Detroit next to Haloti Ngata. He had finally become comfortable in defensive coordinator Teryl Austin’s attacking scheme, which gets after opposing quarterbacks and rushers.
