A veteran leader of the Detroit Lions has decided to call it a career. Cornerback Rashean Mathis informed the Lions on Tuesday that he was retiring after a 13 year career. “I think it’s time for me to hang up the cleats” A video on the team’s website shows Mathis being interviewed in Jacksonville. During the interview he went on to say : “I wanted to finish healthy. I wanted to finish on a good note. … I think my last three years in Detroit have been amazing for me. … And being with (head coach Jim) Caldwell the last two years, I couldn’t ask for anything more to go off on a happy ending.
