Ernie Accorsi has led two general manager searches in the last two years, and they yielded two completely different sets of finalists.
Before the Chicago Bears hired Ryan Pace -- on Accorsi’s recommendation -- last January, they also interviewed Chris Ballard of the Kansas City Chiefs, Brian Gaine of the Houston Texans and Lake Dawson of the Tennessee Titans.
This year, the Detroit Lions followed Accorsi’s lead in a search that produced Bob Quinn as GM. Sheldon White (Lions interim GM) and Kevin Abrams (New York Giants) were runners-up.
Accorsi said in a phone interview with the Free Press on Sunday that “everything about (the Lions and Bears jobs) was similar,” from the power of the GM position to being part of a family-run organization.
