Kevin Glover can see how the Lions have retooled the offensive line since the end of last season and understand what the players on the unit are going through.
Glover was in the middle – literally, as the starting center and team leader – of a rebuild project in 1993 that paid instant dividends for the Lions.
The circumstances that forced the Lions to give the line an extreme makeover in Glover’s day were different. They signed three veterans as starters in the first year the NFL adopted full free-agency for players. They helped the Lions improve from a 5-11 record and last-place finish in 1992 to a 10-6 record and first place in the old NFC Central in 1993.
