O'HARA'S MONDAY COUNTDOWN: Jim Miller's take on the Lions

The SiriusXM NFL tandem of Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller had a forecast of doom when it visited Lions’ training camp in 2009. Kirwan’s assessment that the Lions were in worse condition than a franchise team proved accurate as GM Martin Mayhew began a building program.

Six years later, the Lions are considerably better, and the forecast is brighter.

Miller, whose 12-year career as an NFL quarterback after prepping at Michigan State included a stop at Lions training camp in 1998, assessed the Lions through the eyes of a quarterback. Predictably, he sees strengths, weakness and holds, but the bottom line is a contending team in the NFC North.
