It was one year ago, minus a few days, that the Lions danced and hugged in the middle of the field at Wembley Stadium after Matt Prater’s last-play field goal had given them an improbable 22-21 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
They were comeback kids, cardiac kids. Call them what you want, they were winners. They could have flown home on the fumes of their own joy.
The Lions were 6-2 at the bye, and they were playing like winners. They made the playoffs with an 11-5 record and gave a creditable performance in a wild-card loss at Dallas.
