JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –Burning questions – the Lions’ defense giving ground, big plays on offense – including Ameer Abdullah’s catch -- offensive production and roster battles in Saturday night’s 22-17 victory over the Jaguars in Game 3 of the preseason:
Question – defense sagged: The Lions came back to win, but what happened to the defense in the first half, and why was Jacksonville able to control the game so effectively?
Answer: Pass defense, a couple big penalties, and letting the Jaguars convert on third down were the big issues. Any one of the three would be a problem, and three of them together made it a long first half.
