O'HARA: Pivotal year for Swanson, o-line

The past and present of the Detroit Lions’ center position – all 16 years of it combined – was on full display when Travis Swanson and Dominic Raiola walked off the field together after Wednesday’s minicamp practice.

It was more than symbolism that Swanson and Raiola were walking stride for stride and talking. Roles have shifted, making Raiola a mentor in what the Lions are hoping is a work in progress in a rebuild of the offensive line.

The torch was passed a year ago, when Raiola retired after 14 seasons and turned the starting job over to Swanson.
