O'HARA: One position filled, one to go

With new leadership on board to run the business side of the Detroit Lions franchise, the search for a general manager can begin in earnest for the Ford family with a little help from its friends in the National Football League.

The hiring of Rod Wood as team president, announced Thursday afternoon by Lions Owner and Chairman of the Board Martha Firestone Ford, fills one top-management position made vacant with the firing two weeks ago of president Tom Lewand and GM Martin Mayhew.

Next on the list is the search process and ultimate hiring of a general manager.
