WATFORD, England – Martin Mayhew’s track record as general manger shows a willingness to jump into the trade market, which makes his declaration Friday of the Lions being “probably more buyers than sellers” more than idle chatter.
It’s unlikely that there will be any deal before Tuesday’s trade deadline close to the magnitude of the one he made in 2008 when he sent wide receiver Roy Williams to Dallas for first-, third- and sixth-round draft picks.
That deal was made just 22 days after Mayhew was promoted to interim GM after the firing of Matt Millen.
