Don Muhlbach won't go away. Not that anyone wants him to.
But 14 months after the Detroit Lions spent a sixth-round pick on a long snapper, Muhlbach still is hanging onto the job.
Tightly.
The Lions guaranteed Muhlbach at least one more season of long-snapping on Thursday when they waived Jimmy Landes and tackle Arturo Uzdavinis to make room for new offensive linemen Greg Robinson and Cyrus Kouandjio.
Muhlbach, who turns 36 in August, has been the team's long snapper since midway through the 2004 season.
"Muhlbach is our guy and that’s where we are at this point," Lions coach Jim Caldwell said.
