NOTEBOOK: Young corners getting their work in

It was day two of Detroit Lions rookie minicamp in Allen Park Saturday afternoon. During the individual portion of practice, defensive backs coach Tony Oden was running his rookie cornerbacks through a backpedal, cutting and agility drill.

At the end of each player’s run through the drill, Oden would fire a football at the player to test their hands and see if they could finish the drill strong.

When it came to the end of Alex Carter’s turn through the drill, Oden’s pass sailed way high, but the man with a 40-inch vertical and the longest wingspan of any defensive back at the Combine, easily leaped up and snatched the pass out of the air.
