NOTEBOOK: Stafford would like to have Cooter back

Matthew Stafford has been red-hot since Jim Bob Cooter took over as offensive coordinator in late October.

And for the first time after Sunday’s 32-17 win over the 49ers, Stafford made a public plea for the Lions to keep their young offensive coordinator.

“Jim Bob and I are on the same page the majority of the time, if not all the time,” Stafford said.

“We have good discussions throughout the week, talking about what we like. I feel comfortable, the guys feel comfortable. We understand what we’re trying to get done.

“It’s not my decision, I just know we’re playing really well on offense right now and I’m having a good time.
