Detroit’s depleted ranks at cornerback have given second-year CB Nevin Lawson an opportunity of a lifetime for the rest of this season.
A fourth-round pick by the Lions in 2014, Lawson dislocated his foot two games into his rookie campaign and missed the next 15 games (including the playoffs).
He entered this season as a reserve cornerback and didn’t see his first action on defense until Week 5 vs. Arizona. In fact, Lawson played in just 15 of the 475 snaps on defense the first seven weeks of the season.
He was pressed into a starting role Week 8 in London when Rashean Mathis was inactive.
