NOTEBOOK: Lawson talks PI call

Maybe the longest NFL penalty in the last 15 years wasn't a penalty after all.

Lions cornerback Nevin Lawson was flagged for a 66-yard pass interference penalty in the second quarter last week in Green Bay. The flag set up a 2-yard Packers touchdown pass on the very next play in an eventual 34-27 Green Bay victory.

Lawson told reporters in front of his locker on Thursday that he was informed by one of his coaches this week that the NFL apologized for the call and admitted there shouldn’t have been a penalty on the play.

“The league came back and said it wasn’t a pass interference,” Lawson said.
