NOTEBOOK: Defensive line off to a good start

The players upfront along the Lions’ defensive line entered Thursday’s preseason opener vs. the Jets with a bit of a chip on their shoulder.

I mean, who could blame them? For the last six months they’ve been answering more questions about who isn’t playing along their line than who actually is.

The defensive line certainly has something to prove and they got off to a good start in a 23-3 stomping of the Jets.

The Jets amassed just 123 total yards, were 3-of-12 on third down and netted just 67 yards on the ground.

“Yeah, we did a lot of good things out there tonight,” said second-year defensive tackle Caraun Reid, who finished with a tackle, a sack and a quarterback hit.
