NOTEBOOK: Cooter's offense likely to be Stafford-friendly

WATFORD, England – Jim Bob Cooter played quarterback at the University of Tennessee. He’s also been a quarterbacks coach nearly his entire professional coaching career. He knows quarterbacks, and he certainly knows Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford better than most, having worked with him extensively for the last two years.

What will make Cooter's offense different than Joe Lombardi’s (who Cooter replaced as offensive coordinator on Monday)? It's too soon to tell, but it’s likely to be Stafford friendly.

“One of the things that certainly was considered strongly was the fact that he’s the closest one to the guy (Stafford) in our offense,” head coach Jim Caldwell said Wednesday.
