Allen Park – When you think of the Lions, and you think of their 61-year-old coach, Jim Caldwell, you don’t often think of them as yuppies.
But they are a younger team these days, without question: The 22 starters on offense and defense last weekend at Minnesota averaged barely 26 years of age. And at least at the moment, this team does seem like an upwardly-mobile bunch of professionals, winning four of five games after an inauspicious 1-3 start.
That they’ve done it by regularly defying the odds and the game clock — and in spite of the coaching on occasion — only adds to the intrigue as the Lions head into their bye week on an emotional upswing, a half-game out of the NFC North lead or the final wild-card spot.
