Detroit —The Lions have always been the NFL’s three-legged chair.
And now that the off-key playoff music has stopped — the final record scratch, for those who were still listening, came Sunday in a dreary, 21-14 loss in St. Louis — the focus turns not just to Jim Caldwell’s wobbly future as head coach, but that of the entire franchise.
Because whether or not the head coach’s fate was sealed with these last two losses — and while that’s a logical leap, few know what ownership is really thinking — there are bigger issues here.
