STATELINE, Nev. — Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Tim Brown don’t have any doubt that the Detroit Lions will be just fine with Golden Tate being their No. 1 receiver.
Leading up to the start of training camp, a great deal of conjecture concerning the Lions is whether Tate can fill the star role that Calvin Johnson provided the franchise over the past nine years. Brown and Rice insist that Tate is an accomplished playmaker who will help the Lions win games.
“He’s already made a name for himself,” said Rice, the NFL’s all-time leader in receptions, touchdown receptions and receiving yards.
