New year, same old problems for Detroit Lions in running game

The worst rushing team in the NFL in 2017 is back in a familiar place one week into the 2018 season.

And while one game with an unfavorable play script is hardly enough to draw any conclusions from, the Detroit Lions reconstituted running game didn’t do much to impress in its debut.

The Lions ran for a league-low 39 yards on 15 carries in last week’s loss to the New York Jets, and 6 of those yards came on a scramble by quarterback Matthew Stafford.
