New Detroit Lions president Rod Wood "probably" will not be directly involved with personnel decisions, but Wood said in a radio interview on WJR-AM (760) this morning that he will have a say in managing the salary cap and other financial decisions that affect the football team.
"I would probably not be directly involved in personnel decisions," Wood said in an interview to announce the Lions' new radio flagship, as first reported by the Free Press late Thursday night. "But certainly as it relates to the financial impact on the team and the salary cap and helping facilitate the best use of our resources to put the best team on the field on a consistent basis, absolutely.
