New Detroit Lions RB Jason Huntley went from two-star prospect in Texas to NFL draft pick

The Detroit Lions selected a possible special-teams ace with their second pick in the fifth round of the NFL draft.

They took New Mexico State's Jason Huntley with the 172nd pick. Huntley, 5-foot-8 and 182 pounds, is an undersized tailback, but he's a lightning-fast kick returner.

Here are five facts to know about Huntley:

Home run threat

Huntley totaled 1,521 yards and five touchdowns on kickoff returns in four seasons with the Aggies. That included an FBS-best three touchdowns in 2018. He averaged 25.8 yards per return.

Huntley was just a two-star recruit coming out of high school, and New Mexico State was the only Division I program to offer him a scholarship.
